AdvantaClean Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

AdvantaClean offers mold remediation, water damage restoration, and air duct cleaning services for residential and commercial properties, focusing on indoor air quality and environmental health.

AdvantaClean is a leading mold remediation and restoration franchise founded in 1994 in South Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. Headquartered near Dallas, Texas, the company is part of Home Franchise Concepts, which is backed by JM Family Enterprises.

It began franchising in 2006 and has since expanded to approximately 85 units across the United States and Canada.

The franchise offers a wide range of services, including mold removal, water and fire damage restoration, crawlspace moisture control, air duct cleaning, sanitizing, and radon mitigation.

Its business model focuses on scheduled, non-emergency work, which allows for more predictable revenue compared to competitors. Franchisees also have the opportunity to expand into related services like reconstruction and contents processing.

Training

AdvantaClean provides a comprehensive and structured training program designed to prepare franchisees for all aspects of operating their business. Here are the key components of the training provided:

  1. Online Pre-Certification Courses
Franchisees must complete OSHA 10 Construction Safety (10 hours), Lead Awareness (4 hours), and IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) (24 hours). These courses are conducted online or at third-party locations.
  2. In-Person and Virtual Academy Training
The Academy training runs for 10–12 days at the HFC Experience Center in Coppell, Texas. It consists of 52 hours of combined classroom and hands-on sessions. Topics include Mold Remediation, Duct Cleaning, Job Scoping and Estimating, Technology Platforms, Sales, Marketing, and Small Business Management.
  3. Certification Requirements
Franchisees are also required to obtain AMRT certification from the IICRC and ASCS certification from NADCA within six months of opening, or earlier if undertaking certain commercial projects. These certifications ensure compliance and readiness for specialized service offerings.

Territory Protection

AdvantaClean provides franchisees with a Protected Territory, typically covering a population of at least 200,000. While no other franchise offering the same services will be placed in this area, the territory is not exclusive. Franchisees may still face competition from company-owned outlets or other distribution methods.

The franchisor may assign jobs in the Protected Territory to others in emergencies or for large-scale or complex projects. National Accounts are fully controlled by the franchisor, and work in the territory may be done by others without compensation to the local franchisee.
