Prism Specialties Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Prism Specialties franchises offer specialized services such as Art Services, Electronic Services, Textile Services, and Document Services for recovery and restoration, utilizing advanced fire and disaster recovery technologies for residential and commercial customers.

Prism Specialties is a leading franchise in the specialty restoration industry. The company was founded in 1993 in Livonia, Michigan, and it remains headquartered there today. Prism Specialties provides restoration services for electronics, art, textiles, and documents damaged by fire, water, smoke, and other disasters.

In 2021, the company unified its four legacy brands—Electronic Restoration Services (ERS), Art Recovery Technologies (ART), Document Restoration Services (DFD), and Textile Extraction Xperts (TEX)—under the Prism Specialties name to offer streamlined, multi-service restoration under one brand.

The franchise began offering opportunities to franchisees in 2012.

Prism Specialties stands out from competitors through its focus on specialized, high-value restoration services that most general contractors do not offer. From recovering electronics and vital documents to salvaging artwork and designer textiles, its trained technicians apply advanced, eco-friendly methods.

Training

Prism Specialties delivers a structured and multi-phase training program designed to prepare franchisees and their team members for successful business operation. The training components address pre-opening activities, in-person instruction, and ongoing educational requirements. Below are the core programs:

  1. JumpStart Program – This is a pre-training module lasting approximately 8 to 15 weeks, where franchisees complete essential activities such as reading the Operations Manual, securing a lease, hiring staff, and completing initial online modules.
  2. Sales Training – Conducted online over 8 to 10 weeks, this module requires about 1–2 hours per week and is included with the initial package.
  3. Initial Training Program – A four- to five-day in-person program required to be completed at least one week before business operations begin. It may occur in Livonia, Michigan or at an approved franchisee site.

Territory Protection

Prism Specialties assigns each franchisee a Primary Area of Responsibility (PAR) where they must operate their business. Although the franchisee may serve customers only within this defined PAR, the franchisor does not grant exclusive territory rights.

Franchisees may face competition from other franchisees, franchisor-operated outlets, or affiliated brands, especially if they are not approved to handle a specific service line or in scenarios involving job refusal or catastrophe.

Despite the territorial designation, Prism Specialties retains broad rights within the franchisee’s PAR. They can market to regional and national offices, including insurance adjusters and contractors, and may assign jobs from these efforts to qualified franchisees.
