The Barre Code Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Boutique fitness studio franchise specializing in barre workouts, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and cardio classes, promoting strength, flexibility, and endurance.

The Barre Code was founded in 2010 by Jillian Lorenz and Ariana Chernin in Chicago, Illinois. It began franchising in 2013 and has since grown to nearly 50 locations across the United States. The company is now headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan and continues to expand its mission of redefining women’s fitness.

The Barre Code offers a well-rounded fitness program that includes Barre, Bootcamp, Brawl™ (cardio kickboxing), and BarRestore, which incorporates yoga-inspired movements.

These diverse classes allow members to focus on strength, cardio, and recovery—all in one studio. The program is accessible to individuals of all fitness levels, promoting inclusivity and variety.

What sets The Barre Code apart is its focus on building inner strength and self-confidence rather than emphasizing weight loss or appearance. The brand creates a positive, supportive community where women are encouraged to embrace their power and individuality.

Training

The Barre Code franchise provides a comprehensive and structured training program to prepare new franchisees and their staff for successful studio operation. Here are the key training programs offered:

  1. Owner Training: This is conducted at The Barre Code’s corporate headquarters or another designated facility. It is mandatory for the franchisee (or their Operating Partner) and the Master Trainer. It covers essential operations, business systems, and Studio management.
  2. Instructor Training: Delivered on-site at the franchisee’s Studio, this training is provided to the Master Trainer and up to six additional individuals. It ensures instructors are proficient in The Barre Code’s core class formats and meet performance standards.
  3. Trainer Training: This pre-opening training for the Master Trainer covers instruction in core class formats and leads the FIT process. It is tailored to the trainer’s aptitude and progress and includes mandatory exams and performance evaluations.
  4. On-Site Opening Assistance: Franchisor trainers assist at the Studio during the initial days of opening, ensuring operations run smoothly and instructors meet training expectations.

Territory Protection

The Barre Code franchise provides a defined “Protected Area” for each Studio, which is established and detailed in Exhibit B of the Franchise Agreement. Within this Protected Area, as long as the franchisee is in compliance with the agreement, the franchisor agrees not to operate or franchise another Barre Code Studio.

This geographic area is typically tailored based on the selected Studio location and may be up to 3 miles in radius or based on population limits. However, The Barre Code franchisor retains certain broad rights despite this protection.

They may still advertise, solicit members, or operate businesses using different trademarks or through other distribution channels within or outside the Protected Area.
