Genghis Grill Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Genghis Grill offers build-your-own stir-fry dishes, allowing customers to customize their meals with a variety of fresh ingredients and sauces, cooked to perfection on a sizzling grill.

Genghis Grill is a fast-casual Mongolian-style stir-fry restaurant founded in 1998 in Dallas, Texas by entrepreneur Jeff Sinelli. The brand is headquartered in Irving, Texas, and operates under the leadership of Craveworthy Brands.

Since its inception, Genghis Grill has grown to over 50 locations across the United States, serving approximately 3.2 million customers annually. The franchise program began in 2001, offering opportunities to operators nationwide.

The concept centers on a “build-your-own” bowl experience. Customers choose from more than 80 fresh ingredients, including proteins, vegetables, spices, and sauces, then hand them to a Grill Master to be cooked on a circular grill. The menu also features chef-crafted bowls, sides, desserts, beverages, and catering services.

Genghis Grill sets itself apart with its interactive dining format, health-conscious choices, and customizable meals. Its “Go Bowl(d)” branding, digital tools like mobile ordering and loyalty rewards, and off-premise optimized layout appeal to modern diners.

Training

Genghis Grill offers a detailed and mandatory training program to prepare franchisees for running their restaurants successfully.

  1. Initial Training Program: Genghis Grill provides a four-week training program to the Operating Principal and up to two key management personnel. This includes both virtual classroom instruction and hands-on training at a certified Genghis Grill restaurant, covering restaurant operations, customer service, marketing, sales, equipment usage, and cost control.
  2. Training Requirements and Conditions: Attendance and successful completion of the initial training program are required before opening the restaurant. If the designated Operating Principal or key personnel are deemed unqualified during training, replacements must be enrolled. The franchisor reserves the right to adjust the training content and length based on participants' experience.
  3. Training Logistics and Fees: The program is typically held in Dallas, Texas, or a location chosen by the franchisor. No fees are charged for the first three attendees, but franchisees must cover travel and living expenses. Additional participants or substitute personnel may incur fees at the franchisor's discretion.

Territory Protection

Genghis Grill grants franchisees a "Protected Territory" which typically consists of a radius around the restaurant's location, defined in the franchise agreement. This protected area may vary depending on whether the restaurant is in an urban or suburban environment.

During the agreement term, Genghis Grill will not open or allow other franchisees to open another Genghis Grill within this protected territory, provided the franchisee complies with the agreement.

However, the franchise does not grant exclusive territorial rights. Genghis Grill retains the ability to operate or license others to operate in “Non-Traditional Venues” within the Protected Territory, such as malls, airports, stadiums, or campuses.
