Shine Window Care and Holiday Lighting began its journey in 1998 under the name Golden Eagle Window Cleaning, founded by Chris Fisher in West Michigan. Over the years, the company evolved to meet growing customer demands.

In 2006, Shine expanded its service offerings to include professional holiday lighting, enhancing its appeal to both residential and commercial clients. This strategic rebranding laid the foundation for the company’s continued success. Headquartered in Grandville, Michigan, Shine began offering franchise opportunities in 2012, which significantly accelerated its expansion.

The franchise offers a broad range of services, including window cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and seasonal lighting installations. This variety allows Shine to provide value throughout the year, regardless of the season.

What truly sets Shine apart is its turnkey holiday lighting service. From custom design and professional installation to timely takedown and secure storage, the company delivers a seamless and festive experience for its customers.

Training

Shine Window Care and Holiday Lighting offers a structured training program to ensure franchisees and their teams are prepared to operate according to brand standards. The training covers initial onboarding, ongoing education, and employee development. Below are the main training components provided by the franchisor:

  1. Initial Training Program
Franchisees and their designated managers and employees must attend the initial training program. This includes classroom and practical sessions, and the franchisee is responsible for all associated costs such as travel and lodging. A fee of $5,000 is charged for the training, which is non-refundable.
  2. Manager Training
The designated manager must complete the franchisor's training to be approved for the role. If the manager changes, the new individual must also undergo this training, typically charged at $500 per week plus travel expenses.
  3. Ongoing and Additional Training
While not mandatory, the franchisor may provide ongoing training sessions, including annual conventions and special topic courses. Participation may require payment of a training fee (currently $1,000 per person), along with covering travel and other expenses.

Territory Protection

Shine Window Care and Holiday Lighting offers franchisees a “Protected Area” during the initial term of the agreement, where the franchisor agrees not to operate or license another business under the Shine® brands within that zone.

However, this protection is contingent on the franchisee not breaching the agreement. The franchisor reserves the right to review and potentially adjust the Protected Area at the time of renewal, based on changes in population or other market factors. Despite the granted territory, franchisees are not guaranteed exclusivity.

Shine franchisees may face competition from national accounts, affiliate-owned businesses, or other franchisees that may operate nearby or even within their Protected Area under certain circumstances.
