  1. Initial Training Program: Franchisees and up to two employees must attend the initial training before opening. It includes classroom and on-the-job training across key subjects like food prep, customer service, compliance, bookkeeping, and marketing. While the program itself is free, franchisees are responsible for travel and accommodation costs.
  2. Opening Assistance: The franchisor provides site selection and opening guidance to help with business setup and address operational questions. Additional support may be available upon request, but may incur extra fees.
  3. Training Breakdown by Subject: The training includes detailed subject-specific sessions, such as 24 hours of food prep, 20 hours on do's and don’ts, and 10 hours of bookkeeping, among others.
  4. Managerial Training Requirement: The business must be overseen by an Owner/Operator or an approved manager who has completed the training program. Replacement personnel are also required to complete training.
  5. Ongoing and Remedial Training: The franchisor may offer or require ongoing training, seminars, or webinars during the agreement term. These sessions are limited to two per year and carry a cost of $250 per person per day plus travel expenses.

Territory Protection

Montauk Lobster House grants its franchisees an exclusive territory, defined by specific geographic boundaries such as a radius, zip codes, or political landmarks. Within this territory, the franchisor agrees not to establish or authorize another company-owned or franchised outlet offering the same or similar goods or services under the same or similar trademarks.

This protection does not depend on meeting sales goals or market penetration, and the franchisor does not reserve the right to alter the territory based on population growth. However, Montauk Lobster House retains the right to market and sell through alternative channels such as the internet, catalog sales, or telemarketing within the franchisee’s territory.
