BAGEL BOSS Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

BAGEL BOSS is a bagel-and-deli franchise offering New York–style bagels, breakfast sandwiches, deli items and coffee, serving morning commuters and families, and known for authentic bagel craft, strong local presence and franchise scalability.

Bagel Boss is an authentic New York-style bagel franchise founded in 1975 on Long Island, New York. The brand is headquartered at 50 Jericho Turnpike, Suite 203, Jericho, NY 11753. It began franchising in 1976, opening its model to qualified independent owners.

The concept draws on a legacy of 5th- and 6th-generation bagel bakers who have served New York’s finest bagels since 1935, and the company emphasizes fresh, hand-rolled bagels, house-made cream cheeses, deli sandwiches, and full bakery assortments. The menu spans from classic lox and bagels to babka, rugelach and challah breads.

Bagel Boss differentiates itself through its New York water-based bagel dough tradition, in-house preparation, and its commitment to preserving bakery heritage while offering a full service breakfast and lunch café model. This blend of craft bagel baking and café service positions the brand distinctly in the breakfast and bakery segment.

Training

Bagel Boss provides a structured and multi-phase training program to ensure franchisees are thoroughly prepared to operate their business. The key training programs offered by the franchisor include:

  1. Initial Training Program
Franchisees and their principals must attend and complete a comprehensive Initial Training Program consisting of approximately three weeks at a designated location (or virtually), followed by one week of pre-opening and 10–14 days of post-opening on-site training. This is provided for up to three individuals at no charge, with a $500 daily fee for each additional person.
  2. Opening Assistance
A trained representative from Bagel Boss provides on-site training and supervision for up to one week before opening and 10–14 days after the store opens, helping to ensure smooth initial operations.
  3. Ongoing Training and Annual Meetings
Franchisees are required to participate in ongoing training sessions and attend annual conventions or national business meetings designated by the franchisor. These programs typically span up to five days per year and may carry a conference fee of up to $2,000, with all travel-related expenses covered by the franchisee.

Territory Protection

Bagel Boss provides franchisees with a defined Protected Territory, typically based on either a three-mile radius or a population of 50,000—whichever is smaller. The specific boundaries are determined using demographic and geographic factors such as median household income, political divisions, and natural landmarks, and are documented in Attachment 2 of the Franchise Agreement.

As long as the franchisee is not in default, Bagel Boss agrees not to open or authorize another Bagel Boss location within that protected area.

However, Bagel Boss retains significant flexibility through its reservation of rights. The franchisor may still sell products under the Bagel Boss brand via alternative distribution channels such as online platforms, stadiums, airports, and kiosks, even within a franchisee's protected territory.
