The Tutoring Club Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

The Tutoring Club offers personalized academic support for students, focusing on improving grades, confidence, and study habits.

Founded in 1991 by Chad Schwartz, Tutoring Club is a leading education franchise offering personalized academic support for students from kindergarten through college.

The company began in California and is now headquartered in Henderson, Nevada. It started franchising in 1999 and has since expanded to more than 80 locations across the United States and internationally. Tutoring Club focuses on long-term academic improvement through individualized learning plans.

Tutoring Club provides tutoring in core subjects like reading, writing, math, and science, as well as test preparation for standardized exams such as the SAT and ACT.

What sets the brand apart is its proprietary curriculum and diagnostic assessments that allow for tailored instruction based on each student's learning needs. This approach helps students gain confidence and make measurable academic progress.

Training

Tutoring Club provides several structured training programs to ensure the success of its franchisees and their staff:

  1. Initial Training Program: Before the Franchised Business opens, both the franchisee and the appointed Director must complete a comprehensive training course. This includes two weeks conducted online or at designated Tutoring Club locations and a third week held at the franchisee’s Tutoring Center within three months of opening. This training covers operational and educational protocols essential to running the franchise effectively.
  2. Additional Initial Training for New Directors: If a new Director is appointed after opening, they must also complete the initial training. The franchisee may incur additional tuition costs for such training if it exceeds the standard provision for two individuals.
  3. Mandatory Other Training Programs: Franchisees, their owners, and Directors must attend any additional training that Tutoring Club mandates. These are limited to a maximum of four days per calendar year and may involve costs for materials and travel.
  4. Refresher Training: Conducted periodically, these sessions are designed to update knowledge and ensure ongoing compliance with operational standards. Attendance is required and may be organized at the headquarters, another franchisee’s site, or any U.S. location the franchisor chooses.

Territory Protection

Tutoring Club provides its franchisees with a defined Protected Territory to ensure territorial exclusivity. This Protected Territory is established as a 2.5-mile radius around the initial approved location of the Tutoring Center.

Franchisees must operate solely within this designated area, and any relocation of the center must be pre-approved by the franchisor. The franchisor commits not to establish or license another Tutoring Center within the franchisee's Protected Territory.

However, this exclusivity does not prevent the franchisor from selling products or offering services online or outside the Protected Territory, as long as those sales are not from another franchised location within the area. This structure helps maintain market clarity while allowing flexibility for broader brand operations.
