Prepaze Academy Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Prepaze Academy offers tutoring and enrichment programs for students, helping them improve academic skills and achieve educational success through personalized instruction.

Prepaze Academy Franchise is a supplemental education franchise specializing in personalized K‑12 tutoring and test prep. It was founded in 2017 by Shenba Chockalingam in Dublin, California. The first physical center opened in 2018 under the Ace Academy name. In 2021, the brand rebranded to Prepaze Academy and began franchising.

The company is headquartered in Dublin, California. Prepaze Academy operates under its parent company, Prepaze, and utilizes proprietary technology such as the Unik learning management system. This platform includes tools for billing, student assessments, and classroom management, streamlining operations for franchisees.

Franchisees offer a wide range of educational services, including K‑12 tutoring, SAT and ACT prep, homework help, competition math, college counseling, and enrichment programs like robotics, chess, and coding.

Prepaze Academy stands out by combining technology-driven operations with a personalized, student-focused approach. Its system emphasizes not only academic success but also emotional well-being and holistic development.

Training

Prepaze Academy provides a structured training program for franchisees and their management teams to ensure consistent operational standards. Here are the numbered components of the training provided by the franchisor:

  1. Initial Training Program – This program is conducted entirely online using video and web conferencing. It lasts approximately 1 to 3 days, depending on the prior experience of the attendees, and must be completed at least 15 days before opening the franchise.
  2. Required Attendees – The Operating Principal, managers, on-premises supervisors, and teachers must all attend and successfully complete this training. Attendees must also sign a non-disclosure agreement before participating.
  3. Supplemental Training – Additional training may be required if a franchisee is in default or if the franchisor believes it's in the best interest of the franchise. Replacement training for new managers or Operating Principals must be completed within 10 days of assuming responsibilities.
  4. Instructor Training – Franchisees must train their instructors within 10 days of hire. If the franchisor provides this training, a fee is charged per person, per subject.

Territory Protection

Prepaze Academy grants each franchisee an exclusive territory, typically defined by a 10-driving mile radius. However, this area may be reduced if demographic data indicates a population of more than 2,500 children aged 5 to 19 within that radius, to better match the franchise's target market.

The franchisor agrees not to open another Prepaze Academy franchise within this protected territory as long as the franchisee complies with the agreement.

Despite this exclusivity, Prepaze Academy and its affiliates retain the right to market and sell services and products through other channels—such as online platforms—even within a franchisee’s territory. Franchisees are not compensated for any business generated by the franchisor within their own area through these alternate methods.
