Mastercare provides an extensive and structured training program to ensure franchisees and their designated directors are thoroughly prepared to operate their franchise successfully. The training includes both classroom and on-the-job components, along with optional and ongoing programs. The following outlines the key training programs:
Initial Training Program Mastercare requires the franchisee and their designated director to complete an approximately 70-hour training program over two weeks. This includes 40 hours of classroom instruction covering system operations, customer service, ordering, accounting, and quality standards, conducted at the franchisor’s headquarters or another chosen location. On-site training follows at the franchisee’s location during business launch, lasting about 30 hours.
Web-Based and Safety Training The franchisor offers optional web-based courses on topics like marketing and sales, available at $149 per session. Additionally, safety training videos are provided online at no cost, though these are not part of the initial training and do not excuse fee obligations if they malfunction.
Supplementary Training and Support Franchisees can request additional training for themselves or staff at the franchisor’s current rate, including travel and related expenses. If remedial training is deemed necessary after inspections, the franchisee must also cover costs for any trainers sent on-site.
Territory Protection
Mastercare grants franchisees a Designated Territory defined by zip codes or geographic boundaries, typically covering a population of 75,000 to 250,000 people. Within this territory, and provided the franchisee is in full compliance with the agreement, Mastercare will not open or license another franchise offering similar services.
This offers franchisees a level of territorial protection for their operations and customer base.
However, Mastercare reserves several rights that limit the exclusivity of this protection. The franchisor may engage in e-commerce, sell through alternative distribution channels, or even adjust territory boundaries if the franchisee cannot adequately service their area or fails to comply with the agreement.
