Training

EarthWise Pet provides a comprehensive set of training programs for franchisees to ensure operational excellence and brand consistency. The types of training offered by the franchisor include the following:

  1. Initial Training Program
    This mandatory program must be completed at least 60 days before the store opening (or within 90 days of signing the agreement). It includes both remote and in-person training covering operational, marketing, management, and technical aspects. It typically includes:
    • Welcome and Philosophy
    • Site Selection
    • Insurance Training
    • Marketing/Advertising
    • Product and Pet Nutrition
    • Business Management
    • POS System Usage
    • Merchandising and Customer Service
    • Services Training
  2. Opening Assistance
    A trainer is provided onsite for 3–5 days during the store opening. This support includes software training, merchandise display, product education, and use of the Operations Manual.
  3. Retreats, Seminars, and Webinars
    These are periodic and may be required or optional. They serve as refresher training and are held at designated locations or online. They often include updates and best practices for ongoing business improvement.

Territory Protection

EarthWise Pet offers a form of limited territorial protection to its franchisees. The franchisor agrees not to establish or authorize another retail shop using the principal trademark within the designated “Franchise Territory” as specified in the Franchise Agreement.

This territory is generally determined based on driving mile radius and varies depending on urban density and demographic considerations. However, EarthWise Pet does not grant an exclusive territory.

Franchisees may still face competition from other franchisees, company-owned outlets, or alternative distribution channels such as internet sales and direct marketing. Furthermore, the franchisor reserves the right to sell similar products under different trademarks within the same territory without compensating the franchisee.
