Ben’s Barketplace is a pet health and nutrition retail franchise that specializes in high-quality food for dogs and cats. The company was founded in 2005 in Roseville, California.
Its headquarters also remain in Roseville, where the brand continues to oversee its franchise operations. Ben’s Barketplace was launched by Brad and Sally Romero, who built the brand around their deep experience working with dogs and understanding their nutritional needs.
The franchise began offering franchise opportunities in 2015 as demand grew for healthier, more transparent pet-food options. Ben’s Barketplace has expanded primarily throughout California, maintaining a small but growing network of stores. Its model is focused on simple operations, strong customer education, and curated product lines.
Ben’s Barketplace sells premium dog and cat food, including raw, dry, freeze-dried, and canned formulas. Stores also offer natural chews, treats, toys, collars, leashes, and selected pet-care supplies.
Here's what you would need to invest if you were to start this franchise. These costs are provided by the franchisor in the Franchise Disclosure Document.
Ben’s Barketplace offers a comprehensive, structured training program to prepare franchisees for successful operation. The training programs are as follows:
Ben’s Barketplace provides its franchisees with a protected territory, typically structured as a geographic area within a five-mile radius around the approved store location.
This territory is determined based on various factors, including population density, demographics, and market conditions. Once assigned, the franchisor will not alter the franchisee’s territory during the agreement term without written consent, and will not establish or authorize another Ben’s Barketplace location using the brand’s marks within that territory.
However, this territory is not entirely exclusive, especially regarding delivery services and marketing rights. The franchisor reserves the right to change, reduce, or eliminate a franchisee’s delivery area at any time without compensation, and even allow others to offer delivery services within that zone.
