Vitality Bowls Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Superfood cafe franchise serving acai bowls, smoothies, and other healthy food options made with nutrient-rich ingredients, promoting wellness and nutrition.

Founded in 2011 in San Ramon, California, by Roy and Tara Gilad, Vitality Bowls emerged from the couple's quest to find safe, healthy food alternatives for their daughter, who has severe food allergies.

This personal mission evolved into a nationwide franchise, with the company beginning its franchising efforts in 2014. Today, Vitality Bowls is headquartered in Danville, California, and has expanded to over 75 locations across the United States.

Vitality Bowls specializes in açaí bowls, smoothies, fresh juices, salads, wraps, and grain bowls, all crafted with high-quality superfoods. The menu is designed to cater to health-conscious consumers seeking nutritious and delicious options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack.

A distinctive feature of Vitality Bowls is its commitment to an allergy-friendly environment, with kitchens specifically designed to prevent cross-contact, ensuring safety for customers with food allergies.

Training

Vitality Bowls provides comprehensive training to franchisees to ensure the successful operation of their restaurants.

  1. Initial Training: The franchisor offers an initial training program for franchisees and their initial managers. This training typically lasts about 60 hours and is conducted over a week at a designated location. The training includes operational, managerial, and system standards education necessary for running a Vitality Bowls restaurant.
  2. Manager Training: Before the restaurant's opening, both the franchisee and their initial manager must complete the initial training program to the franchisor's satisfaction. The franchisor provides instructors, facilities, and materials for this purpose.
  3. Additional and Refresher Training: Vitality Bowls may require franchisees and managers to attend additional or refresher training programs. These sessions are designed to update or reinforce operational standards and may be held at various locations across the United States.
  4. Employee Training: Franchisees are responsible for training their employees as per prudent business practices and system standards. The franchisor may provide guidance but ensures franchisees manage the training independently.

Territory Protection

Vitality Bowls provides its franchisees with a designated "Protected Area" to operate their restaurants. This territory is defined based on factors such as population density and demographics of the location.

Once established, the franchisor agrees not to permit other Vitality Bowls franchise locations or company-owned outlets to operate within this Protected Area during the franchise term.

However, the Protected Area does not guarantee exclusivity for all business activities. Vitality Bowls reserves the right to compete within the area through other channels, such as catering or delivery services, provided these do not involve a direct restaurant setup.
