Ultimate Ninjas is a fitness and entertainment franchise focused on ninja-style obstacle course training for kids, teens, and adults. The brand was founded in 2016 in Chicago, Illinois to provide a high-energy alternative to traditional gyms and youth sports programs.
Its concept blends structured athletic training with fun, competition, and confidence-building activities inspired by modern ninja athletics. Ultimate Ninjas positions itself at the intersection of fitness, recreation, and skill development.
The franchise is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and expanded through franchising as demand grew for engaging youth fitness concepts.
Ultimate Ninjas offers multiple franchise formats, including full-scale training gyms serving a wide age range and Ultimate Ninjas Academy, which focuses on early childhood movement and development. This flexible model allows franchisees to adapt their locations to local demographics while operating under a unified national brand.
Here's what you would need to invest if you were to start this franchise. These costs are provided by the franchisor in the Franchise Disclosure Document.

Ultimate Ninjas provides a comprehensive training program designed to ensure franchisees and their staff are fully prepared to operate according to the franchisor’s standards. The training includes the following components:
1. Initial Training Program
The franchisee and the Designated Manager are required to attend and successfully complete the initial training, typically held at the franchisor’s location in Naperville, Illinois, or another designated site. The program covers the Ultimate Ninjas system, operational and financial management, customer service, marketing, and reporting procedures. It lasts up to one week depending on the franchisee's prior experience, and attendance is mandatory prior to opening.
2. Supplemental and Specialized Training
For franchisees who plan to offer ULTIFIT adult fitness services, an additional ULTIFIT supplemental training program is required. The franchisor may also offer other optional training programs at designated times and locations. Attendance at a national convention and possible additional training sessions may be mandated.
3. Training for Replacement and Additional Staff
If a Designated Manager or other key staff member leaves, the franchisee must promptly appoint a replacement who must complete the same training. Refresher, remedial, or ongoing training sessions may also be required by the franchisor for the franchisee or their staff. The franchisor reserves the right to charge reasonable fees for these programs, while the franchisee is responsible for all related travel and lodging expenses.
Ultimate Ninjas grants franchisees a "Protected Territory" which typically includes a 15-mile radius around their site if the population within that area is at least 30,000. Within this Protected Territory, franchisees may advertise and accept orders, but are restricted from selling outside the territory through alternative channels like the internet or telemarketing without written permission.
However, the franchisor does not guarantee exclusivity—franchisees may face competition from other Ultimate Ninjas locations or company-owned outlets.
The franchisor retains extensive rights to operate or authorize similar businesses under different trademarks even within a Protected Territory. If Ultimate Ninjas acquires a competing system with a unit in a franchisee’s territory, the franchisee may be offered the option to purchase and operate it.
