Training

Tom N Toms Coffee offers a structured training program aimed at preparing franchisees and their managers for effective operation of the Coffeehouse. The franchisor’s training offerings are organized as follows:

  1. Initial Training Program
This mandatory program must be attended by the franchisee before starting construction of the Coffeehouse, and not less than one month before that stage. It is conducted at the franchisor’s headquarters in Los Angeles or another designated location. The training covers operation procedures, product preparation, quality control, and indoctrination into the system, and all travel and living expenses are the responsibility of the franchisee.
  2. Refresher and Supplemental Training
Franchisees are required to attend periodic refresher and supplemental training programs at locations specified by the franchisor. These sessions aim to reinforce standards and operational updates. All associated expenses, including travel and lodging, must be paid by the franchisee.
  3. Training for Supervisors
At all times during the agreement, the Coffeehouse must be managed by a supervisor who has successfully completed the franchisor’s training program. This ensures ongoing adherence to the brand's operational standards. The supervisor’s compliance with training is a continual requirement for the franchise’s operation.

Territory Protection

Tom N Toms Coffee offers franchisees an exclusive territory, with the size determined by whether the location falls within a “Business Zone.” If the franchise is situated in a Business Zone—an area designated by the franchisor with a high concentration of commercial activity—the protected area extends 0.2 miles from the franchise location.

If the location is outside a Business Zone, the exclusive territory is extended to a 0.5-mile radius.

While this exclusive territory restricts the franchisor from opening or franchising another Tom N Toms Coffeehouse within the defined area, it does come with exceptions. The franchisor retains the right to distribute products through grocery stores, convenience outlets, or other retail and wholesale channels, even within a franchisee’s protected territory.
