Parlay Cafe is a next-generation café and coworking hybrid that offers coffee, food and beverage service alongside premium work and meeting spaces. Founded in 2019 in Temecula, California, the brand is headquartered in Temecula, CA.

Parlay Cafe began franchising in 2020. In its flagship concept, customers can order espresso-bar fare, pay for day-use or monthly membership lounges and reserve private conference rooms.

The franchise concept is positioned to serve remote workers, freelancers and small-business professionals who seek an alternative to home offices or conventional coworking spaces.

Unlike a typical coffee shop, Parlay Cafe provides three distinct revenue streams – café service, membership passes and conference room rentals – all under one roof. As reported, its founder describes the model as filling the niche “between the local coffee shop and coworking space.”

Parlay Cafe differentiates itself by deploying smaller footprint locations (roughly 2,500 square feet) in retail centres, rather than large coworking facilities, offering a higher-end lounge feel and flexible usage options.

Training

Parlay Cafe provides a comprehensive training system to prepare franchisees and their teams for successful business operations. The training covers both pre-opening education and post-opening support, ensuring franchisees meet operational standards and system compliance.

  1. Initial Training Program: The Principal Executive and up to two employees are required to attend training at the franchisor’s headquarters or another designated location. This training includes lectures, discussions, on-the-job instruction, and operations manual reviews. There is no training fee for this initial program, though franchisees must cover travel and living expenses.
  2. Pre-Opening Requirement: The Principal Executive must complete training to the franchisor’s satisfaction at least four weeks before opening. The business cannot open unless this requirement, along with other operational and regulatory conditions, is fulfilled.
  3. On-Site Opening Support: A franchisor representative provides 3–5 days of on-site assistance during the business’s launch. This includes help with operational execution and staff guidance.
  4. Ongoing and Post-Opening Training: The franchisor reserves the right to require additional training for the Principal Executive or employees at any time, in any format or location. Fees may apply for these sessions depending on the scope and setting.
  5. New Manager Training: If a new General Manager is appointed, they must attend the training program, which currently costs $15,000. This ensures continuity in management quality and system knowledge.

Territory Protection

Parlay Cafe does not offer exclusive territory protection to its franchisees. While a territory is granted—typically defined as the area within three miles of the approved location—franchisees may face competition from other Parlay Cafe franchisees, company-owned outlets, or other distribution channels operated by the franchisor.

However, franchisees are given a right of first refusal for any new location proposed within three miles of their existing site.

The franchisor retains the right to market and make sales through various channels, including the internet, catalogs, and telemarketing, within any territory, without compensating the franchisee.
