Sub-Ology Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Sub-Ology is a sandwich-and-fast-casual franchise offering premium subs, wraps, salads and soups made with Boar’s Head meats and locally baked bread, serving lunch and dinner diners, and known for gourmet ingredients and community-oriented atmosphere.

Sub-Ology is a fast-casual sandwich and sub shop concept founded in 2013 in Cranford, New Jersey. It began as a neighborhood deli with a modern twist, focusing on handcrafted sandwiches, premium meats, artisanal cheeses, and fresh-baked bread. The brand is headquartered at 17 North Avenue West in Cranford, New Jersey.

The company began franchising in 2023 and is now expanding across the United States under the entity Sub-Ology.com Inc. Sub-Ology offers sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soups, delivering a premium deli experience in a fast-casual setting. Its menu highlights quality ingredients and a commitment to freshness.

What sets Sub-Ology apart from traditional sandwich chains is its focus on elevated ingredients, a community-oriented atmosphere, and a deli-style environment that feels more personal than standard fast-food concepts. The brand emphasizes quality over quantity and local engagement over purely high-volume operations.

  1. Initial Training: Mandatory for the Managing Owner and one manager, with the option to include more participants at an additional fee. Training includes both classroom and on-the-job components and may also be offered via online conferencing.

Territory Protection

Sub-Ology provides its franchisees with a designated territory that generally includes the smaller of a two-mile radius from the restaurant location or an area with a population of 50,000.

This defined territory is meant to offer a degree of operational exclusivity, and in the case of non-traditional sites like malls or airports, the boundaries may be limited to the physical facility. The franchisor’s approval is necessary for all site selections, and the territory specifics are detailed in the franchise agreement.

However, Sub-Ology retains the right to use alternative distribution channels such as online sales, telemarketing, or catalog marketing to serve customers inside any franchisee’s territory.
