The franchisor of Sharkey's Cuts for Kids offers thorough training to franchisees, covering essential aspects for running the franchise.
Initial Training Program: Conducted at the franchisor's training facility in Westport, Connecticut, or another designated location, and may also be offered virtually. The program is tailored based on individual needs and experience. The franchisor covers travel and lodging expenses for the franchisee and one additional principal, up to $1,500 in total, for a maximum of two trainees.
Franchisees are responsible for other out-of-pocket costs and wages. Completion of this training to the franchisor's satisfaction is required at least thirty days before the salon opens.
Manager & Employee Training Program: Delivered virtually, this program occurs during the 0–3 week period before the salon opening. All employees must complete this training to the franchisor's satisfaction within 21 days of the franchise salon opening. It includes various operational aspects and is held at the franchisor's headquarters or virtually.
Additional Training: The franchisor may offer optional additional training programs, which franchisees are required to attend for up to five days per year. This could include national business meetings or annual conventions. Additional training might be conducted virtually, and the franchisor reserves the right to impose a fee for these programs.
Sharkey's Cuts for Kids does not provide exclusive territory protection to its franchisees. As outlined in their Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not granted exclusive territories and may encounter competition from other franchisees, company-owned outlets, other distribution channels, or competing brands controlled by the franchisor.
The designated area for a franchisee is limited to a radius of five miles around their salon, but this does not eliminate the possibility of competition within that zone.
