Rhea Lana’s is a franchise system built around children’s consignment events that empower families to buy and sell gently used kids’ items at deep discounts. The company began in 1997 in Conway, Arkansas, when founder Rhea Lana Riner held her first consignment sale in her living room. Over time, the business evolved from a local event into a national brand, headquartered in Conway, Arkansas.
Rhea Lana’s launched its franchise program in 2008, with the first franchise awarded to a sibling of the founder. The corporate entity, Rhea Lana’s Franchise Systems, Inc., is formally organized under Arkansas law and has its principal place of business in Conway. As of today, Rhea Lana’s operates over 119 active franchises across roughly 27 states.
Each franchise hosts two or more upscale consignment events per year, where local families consign newborn through juniors’ apparel, shoes, toys, maternity items, baby gear, books, and more. Sellers can earn 60–75% of their sales, while buyers enjoy savings of 60–90% off retail prices.
What sets Rhea Lana’s apart from competitors is its blend of community, sustainability, and family-friendly business opportunity. Its model rewards consignors with a significant share of sales, offers curated, high-quality used items, and provides a flexible franchise structure targeting parents seeking better work-life balance.
Here's what you would need to invest if you were to start this franchise. These costs are provided by the franchisor in the Franchise Disclosure Document.
Rhea Lana’s Franchise Systems, Inc. provides a structured and detailed training program to its franchisees. Here’s an overview of the training offered:
Rhea Lana’s Franchise Systems, Inc. grants exclusive territory protection to its franchisees as outlined in the Franchise Agreement. Each franchisee is assigned a specific “Territory,” within which the franchisor agrees not to establish or license another Rhea Lana’s consignment event.
The size and makeup of the territory vary, typically covering 4 to 8 zip codes but potentially extending across counties in less populated areas or narrowing to fewer zip codes in dense urban markets.
This exclusivity means no other Rhea Lana’s events will be operated from a physical location within your assigned territory. However, Rhea Lana’s reserves the right to conduct sales or promote the brand through means such as the Internet or at locations outside of the franchisee’s territory, even if customers from within your territory attend those events.
