Training

NextCar provides a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping franchisees with the essential knowledge to operate their vehicle rental business effectively. The training is included in the Initial Franchise Fee and is conducted at the Franchisee Service Center in Laurel, Maryland, or optionally at a regional site selected by the franchisee.

  1. Initial Operations Training: Lasting 4 to 5 days, this program covers NextCar’s operational standards and system philosophy. Trainees are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.
  2. On-the-Job Training: After completing the initial training, franchisees and general managers may opt for additional on-the-job training at a company store. This is optional and free of charge, but travel and living expenses are the trainee’s responsibility.
  3. Rental Car Online University (RCOLU): Franchisees pay a $27 monthly fee for access to online training for up to three employees, with a $9 charge for each additional participant. This program includes topics such as rental counter practices, business management, and employment practices.
  4. Ongoing Training and Resources: Includes periodic webinars, live classes, newsletters, and consultations. These may incur a reasonable fee and are designed to keep franchisees updated on best practices.
  5. Annual Convention and Additional Training: NextCar may hold conventions and require further training attendance. Costs for travel and participation are borne by the franchisee.

Territory Protection

NextCar offers territory protection to franchisees who operate under a Primary Service Area or Airport Location agreement. In these cases, as long as the franchisee complies with their agreement, the franchisor will not authorize another NextCar location within that defined area.

The territory is specified in the franchise agreement and may be reduced or modified if fleet minimums are not met. However, this protection does not apply to Single Point Franchises, which are site-specific and offer no territorial exclusivity.

Additionally, NextCar and its affiliates reserve broad rights to operate under other trade names or service marks within and outside any franchisee’s area. This means franchisees may still face competition from affiliated brands or different distribution channels operated by the franchisor.
