Naz’s Halal Food is a fast-casual halal restaurant franchise known for bold flavors and street-food roots. The brand was founded in 2009 in Queens, New York by cousins Naz and Kareem, who come from a family with deep experience in the restaurant industry.
The concept began as a single halal food truck serving rice platters, gyros, wings, and burgers inspired by New York City street cuisine. Its early popularity helped pave the way for rapid brand recognition.
Naz’s Halal Food opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in January 2018, marking a major milestone in its growth. The company is headquartered in Hicksville, New York and has expanded to dozens of locations across multiple states. Building on its operational success, Naz’s Halal Food officially began franchising in 2024.
The franchise model is designed for high-traffic urban and suburban markets, including college towns and late-night dining areas.
The menu centers on halal-certified comfort food with wide consumer appeal. Core offerings include seasoned rice platters, wraps, gyros, burgers, wings, and sides made with fresh ingredients.
Here's what you would need to invest if you were to start this franchise. These costs are provided by the franchisor in the Franchise Disclosure Document.

Naz’s Halal Food provides a thorough and structured training program to ensure franchisees and their teams meet the brand’s standards. The training includes the following components:
Naz’s Halal Food does not offer exclusive territory rights to its franchisees. While franchisees may be granted a "Protected Territory," this area is defined upon approval of the restaurant's location and may range from 0.05 to 1 mile in radius. The franchisor reserves the right to operate or authorize restaurants in non-traditional venues such as airports, malls, and military bases even if these fall within the Protected Territory.
Additionally, franchisees are not protected from competition within their Development Area unless they are in full compliance with the Development Agreement.
Even then, the franchisor and its affiliates maintain the right to engage in activities not expressly restricted, including selling through other channels or brands. The agreement clarifies that Non-Traditional Locations are explicitly excluded from territorial protections unless otherwise stated.
