Men In Kilts Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Men In Kilts is a window and exterior cleaning franchise known for its professional services and unique branding, with kilt-wearing technicians providing exceptional customer care.

Men In Kilts is a standout name in the exterior cleaning industry, offering professional services infused with a memorable Scottish touch. Established in 2002 in Vancouver, Canada, the brand has expanded impressively over the years and now operates from its headquarters in Surrey, British Columbia.

The franchise journey began in 2010, allowing business owners to offer Men In Kilts’ expert window cleaning, gutter cleaning, house washing, and pressure washing services across a wide range of territories.

What truly makes Men In Kilts unique is not just the quality of their services, but the personality they bring to each job. Their team members are easily recognized by their traditional kilts, a playful nod to their slogan, “No Peeking!”, which adds both charm and brand recognition in every market they serve.

Training

Men In Kilts provides franchisees with a multi-phase training program to prepare them for successful operations:

  1. Initial Training Program
Franchisees and their Operating Principal must complete a 5–8 week Initial Training Program that blends self-directed online modules and instructor-led sessions, some in-person in Boston or another designated location. This program covers technical skills, marketing, operations, and software systems, totaling about 224 hours of learning. Successful completion is mandatory before opening, and a certificate is issued upon passing.
  2. Post-Opening Training and Support
After opening, Men In Kilts provides at least two consecutive days of onsite office training to help implement systems and resolve early challenges. Franchisees also have access to ongoing consultation through a dedicated toll-free number and optional conferences, which may require a registration fee.
  3. Subsequent and Additional Training
Franchisees can send additional staff to future Initial Training Programs for a fee, and all executive, administrative, and marketing staff must complete training within 90 days of employment. Men In Kilts may also require call-center training if the franchise opts out of its National Sales Center service.

Territory Protection

Men In Kilts grants franchisees a defined Territory, typically made up of at least 40,000 qualified households, based on zip codes or physical boundaries. While the franchisor agrees not to open or license another Men In Kilts location within this Territory, franchisees must comply with agreement terms to maintain these rights.

Franchisees may only perform services outside their Territory with written permission and are prohibited from encroaching on another franchisee’s area. Although Men In Kilts protects a franchisee’s assigned Territory, it reserves the right to operate or license businesses under different names or marks, both inside and outside the Territory.

If the franchisor authorizes service in unassigned areas and later grants a new franchise there, the existing franchisee must stop serving those customers without compensation. The franchisor can also impose sanctions for violations of the Territorial Policy and retains flexibility to update it at its discretion.
