MaxStrength Fitness Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

MaxStrength Fitness offers personalized, high-intensity training sessions designed to deliver maximum results in minimal time, focusing on strength and health optimization.

MaxStrength Fitness is a boutique fitness franchise offering science-based, time-efficient strength training. It was founded in 2007 by Jeff Tomaszewski in Willoughby, Ohio, where the company is still headquartered today.

After years of refining its training approach and business model, MaxStrength began franchising in 2023. It now operates over two dozen franchised units along with corporate-owned locations across the United States.

The brand’s core offering is a 20-minute, twice-weekly strength training session that emphasizes high-intensity, low-force resistance training. This protocol is designed for busy professionals and individuals over the age of 50 who seek fast, effective, and low-impact fitness solutions.

Unlike traditional gyms, MaxStrength studios eliminate distractions—no loud music, mirrors, or need for special workout clothes—creating a calm and focused environment.

MaxStrength stands out by combining personalized, evidence-based training with a therapeutic edge, often supporting clients with rehabilitation goals.

Training

MaxStrength Fitness provides a structured and comprehensive training program for franchisees to ensure successful Studio operations. The franchisor’s training and assistance are divided into two main stages: before and after the Studio opens.

Pre-Opening Training and Support:

  1. Initial Training Program: MaxStrength offers an initial training program that includes self-study materials and classroom instruction. This training must be completed no later than 30 days before the Studio opens. Attendance is mandatory for the franchisee (or Principal Owners if a legal entity), the general manager (if applicable), and other designated employees. The training occurs at a conference facility in the Cleveland, Ohio area or another designated location.
  2. Operations Manual Access: Franchisees are provided with access to a detailed Operations Manual that spans over 500 pages. This manual outlines the specifications, standards, and procedures for operating a Studio, and it is periodically updated to reflect changes.
  3. Studio Setup Guidance: MaxStrength assists in site selection, lease approval, and Studio construction plans. They review and approve all final construction specifications and identify necessary products, equipment, and suppliers.

Territory Protection

MaxStrength Fitness offers its franchisees a form of territorial protection through what it calls a “Protected Territory.” This territory is mutually agreed upon at the time of signing the Franchise Agreement and is typically based on demographic and market factors, generally encompassing a population of around 40,000 people.

Within this territory, MaxStrength and its affiliates agree not to open another Studio offering the same franchised services or products, provided the franchisee complies with the terms of the agreement.

However, the protection is not absolute. While franchisees have exclusivity for physical Studio locations, MaxStrength allows both franchisor-owned and other franchisee Studios to market and sell services within a protected territory through indirect channels such as the internet, email, and telemarketing.
