Gym Skills is a youth fitness and children’s gymnastics franchise that traces its roots back to 2005 in Gahanna, Ohio. The business originally launched as a traveling gymnastics program, bringing classes directly to childcare facilities and after-school locations before eventually expanding into dedicated training centers.
The company is still based in Gahanna, just outside Columbus, and its growth has accelerated through franchise development in various regions. In 2020, Gym Skills opened its model to franchisees, providing the option to run a full gymnastics facility or a mobile program that operates on-site at partner institutions.
Franchise locations offer a broad mix of activities designed for kids and young athletes, such as toddler and preschool gymnastics, tumbling instruction, ninja-inspired obstacle training, birthday parties, summer and school-break camps, adult gymnastics sessions, and open-gym time.
The brand also continues to support its mobile-gym format, giving owners the flexibility to bring classes to schools, early-education centers, and community venues without relying on a permanent brick-and-mortar location.
Here's what you would need to invest if you were to start this franchise. These costs are provided by the franchisor in the Franchise Disclosure Document.
Gym Skills provides a structured training program to ensure franchisees and their staff are well-prepared to operate their business effectively. The training offered by the franchisor includes:
Gym Skills offers its franchisees a form of territory protection, granting them an exclusive area where no other Gym Skills business will be established or operated by the franchisor or any third party.
This territory is generally defined as a circle with a diameter of three miles or based on a population cap of 100,000 people, whichever is less. Franchisees are not allowed to move or operate outside of this designated area without the franchisor’s written approval.
However, the exclusivity is limited in scope. Gym Skills retains the right to operate or license other businesses under different trademarks, even within a franchisee’s designated area.
