Coastal Angler Magazine franchise is a publishing and media business focused on the outdoor and fishing lifestyle market. The brand was founded in 1995 in Brevard County, Florida, where it launched as a local fishing magazine serving coastal communities.
It quickly built a strong reputation for delivering regional fishing reports, boating content, and outdoor lifestyle coverage tailored to local audiences.
Coastal Angler began offering franchise opportunities in 2008, allowing entrepreneurs to operate their own local editions of the magazine. Franchise owners function as local publishers, managing advertising sales, content coordination, and distribution within their designated territories.
The franchise model emphasizes community involvement and relationships with local fishing guides, retailers, and outdoor businesses.
The franchise is headquartered in Satellite Beach, Florida. The business can be run from a home office, making it a low-overhead franchise opportunity with flexible operations and lifestyle appeal.

Coastal Angler Magazine provides a thorough and structured training program to prepare franchisees for successful business operations. The training includes the following components:
Initial Training Program
Franchisees and one additional attendee are required to attend a two-day initial training program, which must be completed within 60 days of signing the Franchise Agreement. This program may be conducted at the franchisor’s headquarters in Cocoa Beach, Florida, at the franchisee’s worksite, or remotely. It includes instruction on hiring employees, advertising sales, editorial operations, special programs, desktop publishing, operating procedures, reporting and accounting, support procedures, and marketing.
Training Costs and Attendance
There is no fee for the initial two attendees; however, any additional participants must pay a fee, currently estimated at $200 per person, plus travel and living expenses. All travel, lodging, and meal costs for attendees are the responsibility of the franchisee. If a franchisee or attendee fails to complete the training to the franchisor’s satisfaction, they may be required to repeat it at no additional cost.
Ongoing and Remedial Training
Although there is no mandatory pre-opening training beyond the initial program, periodic seminars may be held to provide updated instruction or remedial support. Attendance at these sessions may be recommended or required depending on operational performance. Franchisees may also request additional training, subject to the franchisor's discretion and current rates.
Coastal Angler Magazine offers its franchisees an exclusive territory, which is designated before signing the Franchise Agreement. The territory is defined by geographic boundaries such as streets, zip codes, or counties and is structured to cover a population of up to 500,000.
The franchisor agrees not to open or license another Coastal Angler or Angler franchise within this exclusive territory, provided the franchisee complies with required distribution minimums.
Franchisees must distribute at least 10,000 copies of the magazine monthly within their territory to maintain exclusivity. Coastal Angler Magazine may still advertise cooperatively with franchisees or operate non-fishing magazine businesses within the territory.
