Cheer Athletics Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Cheer Athletics is a competitive-cheerleading franchise offering training, teams, camps, and competition prep, serving young athletes and sports families, and known for elite coaching, large national presence, and performance-driven culture.

Cheer Athletics began its story in 1994, when the first gym was opened in Plano, Texas by founders Angela Rogers and Jody Melton. What started as a small program with only a handful of athletes eventually developed into one of the leading names in all-star cheer, ultimately evolving into a franchise system.

Over the years, the organization expanded well beyond its original gym. Today, Cheer Athletics operates multiple locations and maintains its main headquarters and flagship facility in Plano, Texas at 3712 E Plano Parkway, Suite 100.

The brand officially entered the franchising world in 2020, giving independent owners the opportunity to operate Cheer Athletics programs in their own communities. This move helped accelerate its growth and broaden its national footprint.

Cheer Athletics focuses on competitive all-star cheer for athletes ranging from young children to adults. Its gyms offer structured training, tumbling, stunt instruction, choreography, team formation, and preparation for regional and national competitions, serving both as a training center and a full team-development program.

Training

Cheer Athletics provides a comprehensive training program to equip franchisees and their teams with the knowledge needed to operate a franchise location effectively. The training consists of both classroom instruction and hands-on experience, delivered at corporate and on-site locations.

  1. Initial Corporate-Location Training: Up to five days of training is provided for three individuals (including the Designated Principal and General Manager) at the Cheer Athletics corporate facility in Plano, Texas or another approved site. Topics include corporate structure, technology systems, insurance, industry policies, and gym operations, with a total of 12 classroom hours and 22 on-the-job training hours.
  2. Franchised-Location Training: An additional five-day training is held at the franchisee’s business site around the opening period. A designated trainer assists with setup, staff training, and operational guidance during this critical phase.
  3. Misconduct Reporting Training: Franchisees and designated personnel must complete a course on identifying and reporting sexual, emotional, and physical misconduct. This course must be completed with approved providers and documentation submitted to the franchisor.
  4. Annual Conferences and Additional Programs: Franchisees are required to attend annual conferences and other training programs covering sales, operations, accounting, marketing, and performance standards. The franchisor may charge fees for these additional sessions.

Territory Protection

Cheer Athletics grants its franchisees the right to operate within a designated “Site Selection Area,” but this does not constitute exclusive territorial protection. Franchisees must secure a suitable location within this area, which is subject to the franchisor’s approval.

Once approved, the location becomes the “Franchised Location,” but the agreement does not prevent the franchisor from granting other franchises nearby or operating other gyms.

The franchisor retains broad rights to operate or license other businesses and does not guarantee market exclusivity beyond the specific approved location. Franchisees are expected to open their gym within a specific timeframe or risk termination of the agreement. Thus, while Cheer Athletics supports location selection and approval, it does not offer traditional territorial exclusivity.
