Camp Run-A-Mutt

Camp Run-A-Mutt Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Camp Run-A-Mutt is a dog daycare and boarding franchise, providing a safe and playful environment for dogs to socialize and exercise.

Camp Run-A-Mutt is a premium, cage-free dog daycare and boarding franchise founded in 2008. The first location opened in San Diego, California, led by founders Dennis Quaglia, Severn Crow, and Mikel Ross.

The company is headquartered at 2900 Fourth Avenue #206, San Diego, and has expanded across the U.S. through franchising, which began in 2010 after the original location reached capacity within 18 months.

Camp Run-A-Mutt offers a full range of dog services including cage-free daycare, overnight boarding, grooming, retail products, and positive-reinforcement training. Each facility features spacious indoor and outdoor play areas with splash ponds, waterfalls, and the signature “Muttcams,” allowing pet parents to watch their dogs remotely in real-time.

The cage-free model and 24/7 human supervision set it apart from traditional kennels, creating a safe, social environment for dogs. The franchise distinguishes itself with proprietary CRAMWARE technology, ongoing support, and strong branding.

Training

Camp Run-A-Mutt Entrepreneurial Resources, Inc. offers comprehensive training for its franchisees to ensure consistent operation standards across all locations. The training programs provided by the franchisor include the following:

  1. Initial Training Program: This is conducted in San Diego, California (or another designated location) and is available at no charge for up to three individuals per franchise, including the managing owner. The program covers all operational aspects and must be satisfactorily completed before opening the business.
  2. Pre-Opening Training Program: This is a three-day, on-site training at the franchisee’s Camp Run-A-Mutt Center, occurring immediately before and after the official opening. It is designed to assist the franchisee and their designated manager in applying the knowledge from the Initial Training in a real operational setting.
  3. Brand Standards Manual: Franchisees are provided with this 170-page manual which details specifications for layout, equipment, inventory, and operating procedures. This manual acts as an ongoing reference and is critical for maintaining compliance with the franchisor’s operational standards.
  4. Ongoing Support: Post-opening, the franchisor continues to support franchisees by communicating mandatory specifications, standards, and procedures necessary for daily operations, as described in the franchise agreement.

Territory Protection

Camp Run-A-Mutt provides franchisees with a protected territory to operate their business. Once a territory is defined—typically within a five-mile radius based on demographics and other local factors—it is not altered during the term of the agreement without the franchisee's consent.

Within this area, the franchisor agrees not to establish or franchise another Camp Run-A-Mutt center. However, this protection is not absolute. Camp Run-A-Mutt reserves the right to sell products or services under the same brand through alternative channels like the internet or mail order, even within a franchisee's territory.

Additionally, while other franchisees cannot open physical locations within the protected territory, the franchisor may operate or franchise similar businesses using different marks and systems in the area.
