Appell Striping is a service-based franchise specializing in parking lot line striping, seal coating, crack repair, and pavement maintenance for commercial and industrial properties.
The company was founded in 2001 by Bryan Appell with the goal of professionalizing the striping and pavement services industry. Appell Striping is headquartered in Bay Shore, New York, and has built a strong reputation for precision, safety compliance, and consistent service quality.
The brand began franchising in 2022 as part of a national expansion strategy aimed at bringing its proven operating model to new local markets. Through franchising, Appell Striping offers entrepreneurs a scalable business with defined processes, structured training, and ongoing operational support.
Appell Striping franchise owners provide essential pavement services, including parking lot layout and design, ADA-compliant striping, seal coating, pothole repair, and routine maintenance programs.
Here's what you would need to invest if you were to start this franchise. These costs are provided by the franchisor in the Franchise Disclosure Document.

Appell Striping provides a structured and multi-tiered training program to prepare franchisees and their staff for operational success. The training includes the following components:
Initial Training Program
Appell Striping requires franchisees and one additional team member to complete an initial training program held at the franchisor’s headquarters or another designated location. The program must be completed before opening and includes both classroom and hands-on instruction focused on operating procedures, systems standards, and best practices. All expenses related to travel, lodging, meals, and wages during training are the franchisee’s responsibility.
Additional and Ongoing Training
Franchisees may be required to attend up to five days of additional or refresher training annually, held either on-site or at the franchisor's headquarters. These sessions may be conducted in person or via an Online Training Portal, and the franchisee is responsible for all related costs. A subscription fee may apply if the portal is used.
Remedial and On-Request Training
If a franchisee fails to meet performance standards, the franchisor may mandate up to five days of remedial training. Training requested by the franchisee, or determined necessary by the franchisor, can also be provided at the franchise location. For both, the franchisor may charge its current training tuition rate, and the franchisee must reimburse all associated expenses.
Appell Striping offers its franchisees a defined Protected Territory, which is generally mapped using geographic or political boundaries like cities or zip codes. Within this territory, the franchisor agrees not to operate or license another Appell Striping business, granting the franchisee exclusivity as long as they remain in compliance.
Franchisees are restricted from marketing to or soliciting customers outside of this territory unless specific conditions are met, such as obtaining written permission and ensuring those customers initiate contact.
However, Appell Striping reserves significant rights that can impact the exclusivity. The franchisor may still serve national accounts or distribute products through alternate channels, including the internet, even within a franchisee’s Protected Territory. Violations of territorial rules can lead to severe penalties, including forfeiture of revenue, loss of exclusivity, or even termination of the franchise agreement.
