Westside Pizza is a fast-casual pizza franchise founded in 1996 in Colville, Washington. The company later moved its headquarters to Boise, Idaho. Westside Pizza built its reputation on fresh dough, quality ingredients, and a simple promise to customers: “It’s all about the pizza.”
The brand began franchising in 2006 and has expanded across the western United States. It operates in states such as Washington, Idaho, California, Utah, and Texas.
Westside Pizza differentiates itself with a franchisee-friendly culture and a streamlined fee structure. The brand emphasizes consistent quality, community involvement, and strong unit-level economics. Its focus on handcrafted pizza, fast service, and local-market flexibility helps it stand out from larger, more rigid national chains.

Westside Pizza® offers a structured training program for its franchisees, covering various stages of the franchise relationship. Here’s a breakdown of the training provided by the franchisor:
Initial Training Program The franchisor requires the majority owner, operating principal, and designated managers to attend and successfully complete a training program lasting approximately 7 to 12 days. This training includes instruction in food preparation, daily operations, record keeping, marketing, customer service, and systems management. Successful completion is mandatory 30 days before the store opening and is assessed based on demonstrated competency.
Opening Assistance Training For the first store opening, the franchisor sends a representative to assist on-site for seven days. For subsequent stores, the assistance period is reduced to a minimum of three days. The franchisee bears all associated costs for travel, food, lodging, and wages.
Replacement and Successor Training If there is a new majority owner or operating principal, they must complete the same initial training within 30 days of appointment. This training costs $60 per person per hour, with additional expenses for travel, lodging, and food.
Territory Protection
Westside Pizza® does not offer exclusive territory protection to its franchisees. Instead, franchisees are granted a partially protected trade area, typically defined by specific ZIP codes listed in the franchise agreement.
This means franchisees may still face competition from other Westside Pizza units, company-owned outlets, or different distribution channels within or near their trade area.
The franchisor retains the right to operate or license other businesses in various venues such as malls, universities, and military bases, even within a franchisee’s general vicinity. Moreover, if a franchisee's location is in a high-density area or a city with a population over 20,000, no trade area protection is provided.
