My Gym Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

My Gym offers fitness and development programs for children, providing a fun and engaging environment to promote physical activity and healthy habits.

My Gym Children’s Fitness Center is a kids’ fitness franchise that transforms play into learning. The first two locations opened in 1983 in Santa Monica and Van Nuys, California, setting a new standard for child-focused exercise spaces. Today, the brand spans more than 700 gyms across over 20 countries.

Corporate headquarters are in Sherman Oaks, California. Franchising officially began in 1994, with the first franchised unit opening in 1995. Rapid domestic growth soon led to international expansion, helping the brand build a strong global footprint.

The franchise offers age-appropriate fitness classes, noncompetitive gymnastics, birthday parties, camps, and special events for children ages six weeks to ten years. Proprietary equipment and a rotating curriculum keep each visit fun and engaging. Parents value the programs for helping kids build coordination, confidence, and social skills.

My Gym stands out through its fun-first philosophy, comprehensive 19-day franchisee training, and turnkey operational support. The combination of dance, gymnastics, and athletic skills creates a unique, results-oriented experience that encourages repeat visits and strong word-of-mouth.

Training

My Gym provides a comprehensive and structured training program to ensure effective franchisee operations. Here are the main training components:

  1. Pre-Formal Training Program
Franchisees and designated managers begin with a pre-formal training program that includes detailed instructional materials such as manuals, video and audio content, picture books, and program ingredients. This segment lays foundational knowledge before the start of the formal training.
  2. Formal Training Program
This required program must be completed successfully by both the franchisee (or Managing Owner) and the Center Manager. It is designed to be thorough and is typically conducted at a location designated by the Franchisor. The training includes operational practices and business management essential to running a My Gym franchise.
  3. Additional and Refresher Training
The Franchisor may require attendance at additional and refresher training programs, which can occur at the franchise location or other specified venues. This includes participation in national or regional meetings and conferences, which ensures ongoing alignment with the My Gym standards.

Territory Protection

My Gym provides limited territorial protection to its franchisees. For both Fixed Centers and Mobile Businesses, franchisees are assigned a defined Territory, typically shaped as a circle with a specified radius, often designed to include at least 7,500 children under the age of thirteen.

However, this assignment does not constitute exclusive rights, and the Franchisor may operate or license others nearby under certain conditions. In the case of Mobile Businesses, the Franchisor agrees not to authorize another Mobile Business to serve Institutional Facilities within the assigned Territory, as long as the franchisee remains in good standing.

For Fixed Centers, while the franchisee may operate only within the designated Territory, My Gym reserves the right to market and sell through other channels, including online and retail distribution. Furthermore, any violation of obligations by the franchisee may lead to modification or elimination of their territorial rights.
