Training

986 Pharmacy provides a structured and comprehensive training program to ensure franchisees and their staff are equipped to operate successfully. The training includes both initial onboarding and ongoing sessions, designed to uphold the system’s operational standards.

  1. Initial Business Training: This consists of approximately 80 hours over two weeks, covering both pre-opening and post-opening training. Topics include operational procedures, pharmacy regulations, HIPAA compliance, Medicare fraud, and customer service, among others. This training is delivered through a combination of classroom sessions and on-the-job experience at designated pharmacies in the Los Angeles area.
  2. Mandatory Training: Franchisees or their Pharmacists-in-Charge must attend all trainings deemed mandatory by 986 Pharmacy. These may occur at the franchise location or any designated venue within the continental U.S. Attendance is required at the franchisee’s own expense.
  3. Subsequent Initial Business Training: If operational control changes—such as appointing a new Pharmacist-in-Charge—this individual must undergo subsequent training, unless they completed the initial training within the past five years.

Territory Protection

986 Pharmacy does not offer exclusive territory protection to its franchisees. The franchise agreement explicitly states that franchisees will not receive an exclusive territory, meaning other 986 Pharmacy outlets—either franchised or company-owned—can operate nearby.

Additionally, the franchisor retains the right to sell similar products and services through various channels including online platforms, mail order, or retail locations, which may directly compete with franchisees.

The franchisor also reserves the right to open additional locations or use the brand’s proprietary marks in any geographic area without restriction. This includes operating or licensing competing businesses under the same or different branding.
