Montessori Kids Universe Franchise FDD, Costs & Fees (2025)

Montessori Kids Universe offers early childhood education based on Montessori principles, fostering independence, creativity, and academic growth in a nurturing environment.

Montessori Kids Universe (MKU) is a premier international family of early childhood preschools serving infants through kindergarten. Founded over 30 years ago, MKU integrates authentic Montessori pedagogy with its proprietary DaVinci Kids enrichment curriculum. Its mission is to nurture, inspire, and educate children while fostering a lifelong love of learning.

The franchise began offering opportunities to individuals passionate about early childhood education, providing comprehensive support from site selection to grand opening and beyond.

Franchisees benefit from MKU's established curriculum and business model, which combines the Montessori Method—a child-centered educational approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori—with Reggio Emilia-inspired techniques and the unique DaVinci Kids curriculum.

What sets MKU apart is its commitment to delivering excellence through a time-tested educational model that emphasizes individuality, creativity, and independent learning.

Training

Montessori Kids Universe provides a structured training program to its franchisees:

  1. Initial New Owner Training
This training is mandatory for franchise owners, the Head of School, and one additional team member. It includes virtual sessions or in-person sessions at the franchisor’s headquarters. The program covers education services and the administration of the franchised business. Franchisees are responsible for their travel, lodging, and meal expenses during training.
  2. New Core Staff Training
Core staff may be required to undergo additional training after the school opening. This training is tailored to operational needs, and franchisees are responsible for related fees and expenses.
  3. On-Going Training
Webinars are offered periodically on relevant topics, with some being mandatory. These webinars are free, but franchisees bear the cost of participation.
  4. Teacher Training
All classroom teachers must either be Montessori-trained or enroll in approved training programs. Lead teachers are required to complete the training through the MKU Training Institute, LLC. The franchisee is responsible for associated fees, travel, and other expenses.

Territory Protection

Montessori Kids Universe offers franchisees a protected territory, defined as a three-mile radius around the school location or a population of 75,000 people, whichever is less. Within this protected territory, neither the franchisor nor its affiliates will open or allow the operation of another Montessori Kids Universe school.

However, the protected territory may overlap with another school’s radius, and the territorial rights remain unaffected by sales volume or market penetration.

Despite this protection, the franchise agreement does not grant exclusive territory rights. The franchisor, affiliates, and other franchisees can still advertise, solicit, and draw students from any location, including within the protected territory.
