Ice Cream Emergency Franchising LLC provides structured training to new franchisees and their managers to ensure consistent operational standards across its mobile ice cream businesses. The training programs offered by the franchisor are as follows:
Initial Training Program Prior to opening, the franchisee (or Managing Owner) and one manager are required to complete a three-day training program at the franchisor’s facility in Oxford, Connecticut. This training includes a total of 24 instructional hours and covers operations, marketing, and system usage. The franchisor does not charge a fee for this program, but the franchisee is responsible for travel, lodging, and related expenses.
Operations Manual Access Franchisees receive a 282-page proprietary operations manual that serves as a comprehensive guide for setting up and operating the business. This manual is updated periodically and must be followed precisely. While not a classroom-style training, it is considered a foundational training tool that franchisees must study and implement.
Supplemental On-Site Training (Optional or As Required) After opening, the franchisor may require or offer supplemental training at the franchisee’s Operations Center. This could be based on performance issues or operational needs. This training is charged at $300 per trainer per day, in addition to travel, meals, and accommodation expenses for the trainers.
Territory Protection
Ice Cream Emergency Franchising LLC provides its franchisees with a designated operating territory but does not offer an exclusive territory. Franchisees are restricted to operating only within their approved Operating Territory, which is generally sized to include around 500,000 people.
While the franchisor agrees not to open or license other Ice Cream Emergency outlets within a franchisee's designated area during the term of the agreement (as long as the franchisee remains in good standing), this protection is limited.
Franchisees are not permitted to solicit or serve customers in territories assigned to other franchisees, though they may request permission to operate in an “Open Area” — a nearby unassigned region within a 20-mile radius.
